This week we are delighted to introduce Katrin Sturm, Founder & CEO of The Best Possible You. Born in Germany and now living in Dún Laoghaire, Katrin set up her company in 2018. Here she tells us a bit more about her journey!
1. How would you describe yourself in 6 words or less?
A doer, natural leader, and fun powerhouse.
2. What prompted you to start your business?
I have always wanted to run my own business and actively worked towards it. Gaining valuable experience in business development and sales in bigger companies like Oracle and Salesforce. Having managed teams of up to 12 direct reports have helped me to shape this path. I could have climbed the corporate ladder further, however, I knew it was time to take the leap and go out on my own venture. I felt a bit like an intrapreneur trapped in a big corporate system in the end and knew it was time to take this step. Combining my passion, strengths, and experience to empower people on their personal growth and career journey and support businesses to grow has led me to the idea of founding The Best Possible You in 2018, which I have scaled successfully into a small profitable business since.
3. Tell us a bit more about you?
Growing up in a rural village in Bavaria, Southern Germany in a conservative family, I was the first one to study and explore the international world and foreign languages. I moved abroad when I was 20 to study International Business in Cambridge and lived in cities like Amsterdam, Toulouse, and Paris working for companies like Airbus and DHL. I chose to relocate to Ireland in 2011 when I started my career in the tech industry. Being promoted almost every year or two, I accelerated my career growth mostly in one of the most innovative tech companies, Salesforce, before starting my own business. I now live in Dún Laoghaire with my partner and our rescue dog Brody running my business fully online since the pandemic hit. I am a nature and outdoor sports freak and really enjoy being so close to the sea and mountains.
4. How has the AwakenHub community helped your business?
It has helped me to connect with other like-minded female entrepreneurs and network online during events in breakout rooms. It's a great platform to meet other founders who want to take their business to the next level and the events have been filled with inspirational speakers. There are a lot of organisations out there for entrepreneurs, but hardly any that is so down to earth, providing consistent value for their female community that I truly resonate with.
